Step into the process behind some of the best athletes in the world.
Step into the process behind some of the best athletes in the world.
For more than 20 years, Mike Atkinson has worked with NBA MVPs, All-Stars, Hall of Famers, NBA Champions, and elite athletes around the world.
For the first time, Mike's complete assessment and performance process is available to athletes outside his professional network — from aspiring basketball players to pros, runners, and high-performing executives.
Understand how you move. Identify what matters. Build what comes next.

Built at the highest level. Now available in NYC.
Performance coaching across the NBA, G League, collegiate and international basketball, and elite youth development. Now that experience has a home in New York City.

Understand first. Then train.
"Most people start training before anyone has taken the time to understand how they actually move. After more than 20 years working with athletes from developing players through the NBA, I've learned that good training decisions start with understanding the individual in front of you.
That's why I built Movement Intelligence™. We assess first, interpret what we see, use objective data to validate or challenge the picture, and then decide what deserves attention."
I don't just train athletes. I solve performance problems.
Most athletes don't need another list of exercises. They need someone who can identify what's limiting them, determine what matters, build the right strategy, and keep adapting as they change. That's my job.
- Assess the athlete.
- Identify the bottleneck.
- Connect the information.
- Determine what actually needs to change.
- What to train.
- What to prioritize.
- What to remove.
- How to progress.
- When to adapt.
The workout is the output. The thinking is the service.
More training isn't always the answer. Better information is.
Athletes and active people invest thousands of hours — and often thousands of dollars — into strength, skill, rehabilitation, recovery and performance.
Yet most have never established a comprehensive baseline of how they actually move.
Without that baseline, training decisions are often based on symptoms, assumptions or isolated measurements.
Assessment should come before intervention.
You may already have a great training team.
Movement Intelligence™ isn't designed to replace good coaching, physical therapy, skill development or performance training. It gives you — and the people around you — a clearer starting point.
Better information creates better decisions.
- What are you doing well?
- Where are you compensating?
- How do you accept, organize and express force?
- Are both sides producing similar outcomes through different strategies?
- What deserves attention — and what doesn't?
The result doesn't always tell you how you got there.
Two athletes can jump the same height. Run the same time. Produce similar output. Look symmetrical on paper. And still use very different movement strategies to accomplish it.

Movement Intelligence™ looks beneath the outcome to understand how you ACCEPT → ORGANIZE → EXPRESS force.
Technology doesn't make the decision. Experience does.
For more than two decades, Mike Atkinson has evaluated and developed athletes across youth, collegiate, professional and NBA environments.
That experience forms the foundation of Movement Intelligence™.
Technology provides additional information. Objective data can validate, challenge or deepen an observation.
Coaching drives the interpretation.

Confidence increases when the evidence converges.
No single test determines the answer.
We look for patterns across independent inputs. When coaching observation, movement behavior, athlete context and objective data point toward the same strategy, confidence in the interpretation increases.
75 minutes to establish your movement baseline.
Multiple inputs. One clear picture.
Coaching + movement assessment

Personal review
Mike personally walks you through what matters, what doesn't, and the recommended next step.

Because training is an investment.
Athletes and active adults invest heavily in their bodies every year. A Movement Intelligence™ Assessment helps determine where that investment should go.
Don't add more until you understand more.
Different goals. Same starting point.

Different questions require different answers. The process begins the same way: understand the individual.

“How do I continue performing while managing the accumulated demands of my career?”
“What physical qualities should I prioritize as competition gets faster and more demanding?”
“Has my movement strategy actually returned — or have I simply regained the outcome?”
“How do I continue training, competing and living at a high level as my body changes?”
One assessment. A clearer direction.
You don't have to play in the NBA to benefit from the assessment principles used at the highest level. Choose your path:
Basketball Performance Training in New York City
Built in basketball. Applied to your game.
Acceleration. Deceleration. Change of direction. Jumping. Landing. Strength. Conditioning. The question isn't how much work you're doing — it's whether your physical preparation matches the demands of your game. In Midtown Manhattan, Mike brings 20+ years of NBA-level experience to every basketball assessment.
- Youth and AAU athletes
- High school and prep players
- College players
- NBA and professional athletes
- Offseason and next-level preparation
NBA-level experience. Individualized to you.
Past injury changes the question.
Previous injuries, rehabilitation and recurring discomfort become part of your movement history.
The assessment helps identify how you currently move and whether movement strategies have changed. It does not diagnose the source of pain or replace medical care.

Movement Intelligence™ is a loop, not a one-off.
Your movement. Organized.
Every assessment organizes your findings into four performance domains — a 100-point framework for establishing a baseline.
Foot, ankle and foundational strength qualities.
Side-to-side movement and performance differences.
Strength, power and performance capabilities.
How you manage force and movement demands.
The score isn't the strategy. It shows what deserves attention next.

Is this physical therapy?+
No. NSTNCT Movement Lab provides performance assessment and coaching. It does not diagnose medical conditions or replace medical evaluation or treatment.
What happens after the assessment?+
Your findings are organized into a personal Movement Intelligence Report with strengths, priorities, interpretation, and recommendations for your next phase.
Can I train with Mike afterward?+
Potentially. Ongoing private coaching is selective and depends on your needs, fit, and availability.
How often should I reassess?+
Timing depends on your goals and development plan. Approximately 90 days can provide a useful reassessment interval for many athletes, while others may require a different timeline.
